Newtown Tales - A day in the life of… Natalie

Every month we take a look at one of the Newtown team, following them on a typical day in our always-busy and never-dull business.

This month, Natalie gives us a peek into what’s been going on in the world of sales.

Nissan Sales Specialist

What do you do at Newtown?

In a nutshell, I sell new and used cars in our Nissan showroom.

How did you get your job?

I got my job with the help of my friend and neighbour, Chris, who's worked in car sales for many years. He put in a good word and Newtown Motors gave me an opportunity.

What’s a typical day like for you?

There is no such thing as a typical day in car sales! Every single day is different and you never know what you’re going to be faced with; that’s one of the reasons that I enjoy it so much.

Tell us one thing you’ve learnt from working here and one thing you love.

One thing I’ve learnt from working here is that no matter how thoroughly you plan, no matter how much you think you know, you’ll still never have thought of everything! As for something I love about Newtown Motors, there's always cake here!!

What’s your proudest moment (in work and in life)?

My proudest moment in work was probably when I got the highest marks out of all our sales staff in the end of year sales accreditation. As a reward, Nissan sent me to Williams F1 centre for the day. Outside of work, I was very proud and privileged to be nominated as Captain of Risca Ladies Hockey Team

What motivates you to get up in the morning?

The thing that motivates me to get up is wondering what the coming day will bring. No two days are identical at Newtown Motors; you never know what challenges or opportunities are going to appear.

What’s the one phrase that sums up your approach to work/life?

There are winners and losers in life. Losers let things happen; winners make things happen.

Tell us something we might not know about you...

I’m a “prepper”, meaning I prep for disasters such as a zombie apocalypse. I even have a B.O.B (Bug Out Bag) containing the bare essentials that I'd need to survive for 72 hours if it all goes pear shaped!

What do you like to do after work?

I like to relax with a good book or sometimes I'll do some gardening or baking.

What did you want to be when you grew up?

I actually wanted to be a teacher when I grew up; an English teacher if you want to be specific.

Tell us one thing that would be on your bucket list.

I'd love to go trekking in Nepal.

Who would play you in Newtown Motors the Movie?

I put this question to my colleagues and I have to say, I wasn’t entirely happy with the response! Apparently it'd be either Dawn French, Ruby Wax, Jo Brand or Danny DeVito in drag!!
